Effects of Information Provision on Driver’s Curve Sharpness Judgment
نویسنده
چکیده
In this study, the effects of information on driver’s judgment of curve sharpness were investigated by field experiment. Sixteen curves of real road were picked up. 80 subjects performed the driving test in the daytime and at nighttime. Four kinds of variables were proposed to judge curve depth: “No Information”, “Paper Map”, “Car Navigation System” and “Proposed Warning Sign”. Each subject performed one round trip on the test section. The subjects were required to judge the sharpness before each curve as: “very sharp”, “sharp” and “gentle”. After passing of each curve, the subjects were asked to valuate it as: “Underestimation”, “Accurate Estimation” and “Overestimation”. As a result, we found the following: Effects of information provision was verified from subjective and objective assessment. Information provision had positive effect to judgment. Most significant driving performance (rapid speed reduction) was observed at sharp downward curves, especially in the case of “Car Navigation System”.

Study of Noise Loudness and Sharpness Effects on Cognitive Performance on Male Students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences
Introduction: The noise could affect some aspects of human health, including the cognitive performance. In addition to sound pressure level and exposure time, the psychoacoustic features of noise may cause destructive effects on humans. A few recent studies have been conducted on effect of sound quality on cognitive performance. This study aims to find the noise loudness and sharpness levels as...
متن کاملEmpirical study Effects of driving experience and age on the detection of upcoming collision
In this study we evaluated the effects of driving experience and age on the perceptual processes involved in the detection of potential future collision with a preceding vehicle. Four groups of 12 participants each took part: Group 1 consisted of drivers having their driver’s licence for more than five years; Group 2 consisted of drivers having their driver’s licence for less than two years; th...
متن کاملCognitive Style and Auditor's judgment: Does Cognitive Style mitigate the Impact of recency bias on the auditors’ belief revision process?
Abstract: The purpose of the present study is two-dimensional. First, provide more evidence of the effects of information order on auditors' beliefs, and secondly, examine whether auditors vary their beliefs in different cognitive styles. These goals were achieved through the use of experienced professional auditors. To determine the effects of information sequence, Hogarth and Einhorn’s belie...
متن کاملSample Skewness as a Statistical Measurement of Neuronal Tuning Sharpness
We propose using the statistical measurement of the sample skewness of the distribution of mean firing rates of a tuning curve to quantify sharpness of tuning. For some features, like binocular disparity, tuning curves are best described by relatively complex and sometimes diverse functions, making it difficult to quantify sharpness with a single function and parameter. Skewness provides a robu...

During the last decade, several studies have argued that sticky information model proposed by Mankiw and Reis (2002), in which firms update their information occasionally rather than instantaneously, explains some stylized facts about the inflation dynamics. Sticky information pricing model successfully captures the sluggish movement of aggregate prices in response to monetary policy shocks. De...
